I’m not in love with the little corner of London where we currently live but there is one thing that is super. The fruit and veg stall on the High Road 2 minutes from our home. It’s the kind of stall that sells everything in £1 lots and you never know what they’re going to have.
Today’s haul was 16 peaches, 2 punnets of strawberries and 8 red apples all for the princely sum of £3. Of course I got home and realised that about 14 of the peaches need eating today really. They are ripe and juicy and seem a fitting purchase to make on the first day of Autumn.
Rather than just eat them in a healthy manner I decided to bake some muffins and use up the blueberries that have been lingering in my fridge. Using a recipe from Donna Hay that uses one bowl and takes literally 5 minutes I whipped up these bad boys with Sun stirring and Shine chewing on Sophie in her bouncy chair. Just the thing for afternoon tea. Baking really is nourishment for the soul.
