As Shine nears the 6 month mark talk in the bluebirdsunshine house turns to weaning. Naturally I can’t help but reflect on weaning Sun.
With Sun we did Baby Led Weaning (BLW), affectionately know in our house as Lazy Parent Weaning as it basically meant no pureeing, no program to follow, just whack the food down and let them get on with it. Not quite true, there were a couple of things to know first but we read the book, bought the t-shirt (or in this case, shower curtain for the floor) and off we went.
Yes, there was some mess but it was great fun and the positives definitely outweighed the negatives. Of course now he is a bona fide toddler he is trying his hand at being fussy but I’m hopeful that he’ll return to eating well eventually.
Now it’s approaching time to wean Shine and I’m wondering whether to go down the BLW route again or do a combination of purees and BLW. She has reflux (GERD) and it’s often mentioned that early weaning can help with reflux in babies.
Hmm, decisions, decisions. Lucky we’ve still got a few more weeks to think about things!
