Twas the day after Christmas…

All’s quiet in our house. Sun & Shine are sleeping off an exciting few days. Bird has flown the nest to go to a Boxing Day party in his home town. It’s just me, a lot of leftovers and my Granny’s quilt keeping me cosy on the couch.

Christmas was lovely. Priceless moments that make all the parenting woes worthwhile as we watched Sun discover that Santa had indeed been and left him presents, and Shine tug at wrapping paper and shake a new rattle with glee. We’ve all been ill with a bitch of a cold that has morphed and mutated through nasty stages and little Shine was still suffering yesterday. We dosed her up with drugs and cuddled her through her first Christmas.

Baby's first Christmas

We spent Christmas just the four of us and it was calm and beautiful but it did make me have slight twinges of homesickness at times. I grew up spending Christmas with lots of children, aunties, uncles, parents and grandparents so a part of me wants that for my children too some day. In the meantime though, I don’t mind that it was just our little family.

Merry Christmas one and all.

  1. Looks like you had a great christmas! It’s a bit quiet here too with the lack of aunties, uncles and grandparents. A few more years and I’m sure the family will all be back again
