This week I did something I’ve been meaning to do for ages. It wasn’t difficult and it wasn’t costly but it was one of those things that isn’t essential to living. Not working, not tidying, not grocery shopping. You know, on the would be nice list.
Except that’s where I realise now I was wrong. It was essential. Essential for my happiness. It has made me immeasurably happy.
I read an article the other day about things that make you happy at home and it really struck a chord and launched me into action.
Looking at photos makes me happy. It’s like the article points out, it’s not just about looking at a pretty image, it’s about looking and remembering a feeling and experiencing that happiness, joy, excitement, whatever, all over again.
So I’ve learnt a lesson this week to always prioritise happiness over groceries. Cheaper cheese for one week in exchange for a wall of happy every time!
The Photo Gallery theme this week is happy. Go get yourself a dose of happy by checking out the other posts.
Brilliant! I’ve a wall of photos and it never fails to make me smile – and often just the cost of a bottle of wine for a frame!
Think of all the moola you’ve saved on groceries this week with your shakes diet! That’s a lot of new frames and pics for you π
This has come at just the right moment. I need to be reminded of these things (off to make the beds!!!) x
Quick! Before it’s bedtime again π xxx
Lovely post. i totally get this, Will be getting my albums out shortly!
Do it! You’ll feel so great when you have!
The Cutture of Hurry makes people forget to delight in the moment. Children know how to do that; with our weird, adult misconceptions, we forget. I’m delighted you prioritised happiness (I often forget myself).
You have inspired me. We have not photos up at home. None. Except in Bibsey’s room where we have put up photos of all the family. I will get on to it. x
Honestly has made such a difference. Get onto it pronto! π
You’ve inspired me to dig out my photos and get working! We’ve lived in our house for a little over a year now and I’ve been meaning to do a wall of photos but I feel so guilty when I’m not doing something “essential” to living, as you so perfectly put it. Thank you for giving me the okay. π
Yes, permission granted! The bit that took the longest was picking the photos, I wandered around memory lane for ages, but it was a lovely wander x
Hmmm. I’ve never really thought of photos that way – but I can see that. I guess I do when I share them with a friend or family.
But I love how your photos are organized in the picture above.. π
