Buns this week on the Great British Bake Off and didn’t everyone make a mess of the technical. It was a tough week and I was sad to see Howard go, I loved his creativity with flavours and wry comments. He was great. Halfway mark now and I’m getting sad that we’re on the downhill run.
So far I’ve joined in every week with Jenny Berry and Helen Hollywood and all the Great Blogger Bakers, and I was not about to let having 3 teeth taken out stop me this week.
I’m not really a sweet bun kind of person. I think if you’re going to go in for something sweet then go hard. I don’t want bread over cake, even if it’s sweetened.
That said, I am partial to a cinnamon bun. I’ve made them a couple of times before so this time I played with recipe a little. I used a recipe from The Primrose Bakery Book but added chopped pecans. I also made a cream cheese icing (cream cheese, icing sugar and a teeny bit of milk) to slather all over them. Yum.
