This year I took all the obligatory snaps of us sat by the Christmas tree, opening presents and stuffing our faces on Christmas dinner. This photo is one of my favourites though.
It paints a picture of the week between Christmas and New Year. A week when we barely flew the nest, living amongst wrapping paper, new toys and chocolate boxes.
The children were happy to smooch about playing with the goodies Father Christmas delivered, leaving me to potter and Bird to play with his new toy. As far as Shine is concerned, Bird has some work to do before he’s ready to take to the stage.
Fairy lights, tinsel and shiny baubles went some way to combat the darkest mid winter days that were dominated by lashings of wind and rain. Perfect weather really to stay inside enjoying the ordinary moments.
Farewell Christmas 2013, you were great.

Lovely picture! It really captures the essence of that lovely period after Christmas when everyone is just happy chilling and enjoying their presents π
Thanks. I think the time just after Christmas might be my favourite time of year x
This is brilliant, and it totally captures that period between Christmas and New Year, where life sort of stands still and there are lots of days spent indoors. I normally get cabin fever if I stay in with the girls all day, but we have been staying in a lot recently and it doesn’t matter as we have all been enjoying their new toys. x
I get serious cabin fever too but like you said it’s the one time of year that we’re all happy to stay in. Especially if it’s grim outside as well. I’m not great at rugging up and getting out in the rain!
I’m sad to see Christmas gone too – the next one will be here before we know it though, I’m looking forward to it already but don’t want it to come round quite so fast π
Know what you mean, I need a bit of time to return to normal eating habits before doing it all over again π
I am so sad Christmas has gone. That is such a great picture π x
I get sad looking back at the christmas pics already. Must stop dwelling on the past and launch into the new year! x
Oh, how I lOVE the days after Christmas where we all just hang out and play and lounge. Just found you from The Ordinary Moments link up — I’m excited to get to know you!
Lovely to find your blog too. Happy new year to you and your family x
LOVE that picture!
